”Ho-ho!” It’s really a long way to Poohsticks Bridge. Pooh is sitting on an especially high gate which has to be climbed over at the end of a steep meadow. A group of walkers – all of them wearing walking-boots, carrying rucksacks – have just been walking uphill, friendly saying ”hallo”.
Behind the high hedges there are old country houses with small dark red tiles and very high chimneys which are typical of Sussex. Very often Londoners spend their weekends and holidays here, as the Milne Family did on Cotchford Farm. Can Pooh see the old orchard with the trees in which Christopher Robin loved to climb? It was somewhere around here where his tiniest toy animal, Baby Roo, got lost. Although it was looked for carefully it was never found again.
”Ho-ho!” Pooh jumps to his feet. Now it won’t take long to reach Poohsticks Bridge.
