There we are: Poohsticks-Bridge. It leads across a narrow river which slowly makes its way through fields, meadows and forest. Pooh can’t wait to play a game of Poohsticks invented by Christopher Robin’s Pooh and played by him and his friends.
Once Pooh had lost a cone, it fell into the river. Instead of fetching it, Pooh lay down on the bridge and looked into the water since it was such a nice day. The water slowly moved along –and all of a sudden also his cone was passing by. Pooh was quite amazed that the cone, having fallen down on the other side of the bridge, now appeared on his side again. He tried it again with another cone and with little sticks. It worked:After some time they appeared on the other side again. And then he played the game with his friends. They ran from one side of the bridge to the other to find out whose stick was to appear first.
Today Poohsticks Bridge is a beloved destination for a family outings. Families come down from the nearby parking-lot and bring sticks for the game (near the bridge you won’t find any sticks).Of course, also Pooh-lovers from other countries travel to this spot. The longest way is probably made by Japanese travellers. When Pooh reached the bridge a Japanese girl happily clapped her hands and laughed: ”You are the best of all bears in the whole world, Pooh!”
